The international conference on the impact of basic research, 10-11 May 2007
The Austrian Science Fund, in cooperation with the European Science
Foundation, will host an international conference on the impact of basic research.
The conference will take place in Vienna on 10 - 11 May 2007.
Scientists, funding agencies, scientific institutions and policy makers are cordially invited to participate.
The goal of conference is to explore how and when the reciprocal interactions between basic research, society and the economy take place. The conference will bring together outstanding scholars from both sides of the
Atlantic and senior officials from major research organisations to discuss the changing conceptual models of how science evolves into innovation.
Keynotes presentations will be made by Sheila Jasanoff (Harvard University), Karl Aiginger (Austrian Institute of Economic Research) and Haim Harari (Weizmann Institute of Science).
