We have the pleasure to invite you to participate in the international conference Implementation of the European Higher Education Area in the Republic of Moldova. Achievements, Challenges, Future Actions: Agenda 2020 to be held at the Free International University of Moldova in Chisinau, on 1-2 December 2011. The conference is organized jointly with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova, the National Rectors Council and the Council of Europe. The conference will bring together experts from European institutions and associations, representatives from Ministries of Education, National Agencies, institutions of higher education and research, student organizations, employers and NGOs. The aim of the conference is to support discussion concerning the impacts of the Bologna reform on Moldovan and European Higher Education landscape with focus on main problems, challenges and future actions regarding the development of national qualification framework, the national quality assurance system, the student-centered curriculum and its Internationalization and Europeanization, the legal aspects of mobility, the development of doctoral and research policy, the issues of university governance, funding, autonomy and public accountability in the context of global changes. The conference will offer the opportunity to exchange relevant experiences and new knowledge in main tools and policy for the development of the European Higher Education Landscape. The expected results of the conference are common understanding of the developments within EHEA, underlining the main issues in developing the national legislative framework and the actions concerning the national and the regional higher education systems for the next decade.
The next year the Host University Free International University of Moldova will celebrate its 20th anniversary. As we have been an active Bologna promoter in implementing strategies of higher education internationalization we consider both from academic and social perspectives the responsibilities to take a stock of achieving in implementing EHEA reforms in the Republic of Moldova and agree on agenda for future actions. All these efforts are undertaken in the context of discussing the second generation Law of education and the elaboration of the Strategy of National Development of the Republic of Moldova, 2020. The new agenda should assure the convergence and the competitiveness of the Moldovan Higher Education, bring closer the country aspiration for European integration and become an effective member of EHEA.
