Summer School - Agrarian Reform and Rural Development - Changes in Institutions and Organisations, Communication and Governance Structures

Modern Agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe: Tools for the Analysis and Management of Rural Change announces Marie Curie Summer School on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development - Changes in Institutions and Organisations, Communication and Governance Structures,
at the Corvinus University Budapest, 21 - 30 July 2007, Budapest, Hungary.

Subjects of the Summer School. The school will introduce participants to issues, such as land fragmentation, implementation of EU directives, social capital formation, extension systems, water institutions, and biodiversity management. It will teach approaches employed for the analysis of institutions, organisations, communication, and governance, such as the Institutions of Sustainability Framework, the Institutional Analysis and Development Approach and methodologies for analysing institutional change and design. The course will also deal with empirical methodologies for analysing agrarian reform and rural development issues from the institutions perspective, focusing on the characteristics and development trends in transition countries. The role of the state in providing a stimulating institutional and reliable legal framework for agrarian reform and rural development will receive special attention. Participants will present their own work on agrarian reform and rural development issues and discuss research questions which they consider important for their research. The course will enable junior researchers to deepen their knowledge in a relevant field of applied economics and social sciences, acquire research skills and to make contacts with experts in these areas and other young researchers working in this area of research.
